Just Be Aware of What You Are

A whale is simply a whale. Its only difference from us is knowing that.

If humanity does not know where it is ultimately going, is it counted as lost for not knowing where it stands?

Must a person believe in an identity? Must one be something? Can we only find meaning inside a package of thought or belief? Can we not simply be ourselves? Like whales, for instance.

A whale is simply a whale. For centuries they described to us the thing that separates us from animals as our great skill: thought and belief, the instruments for making sense of life; personality, character, morality, social pressure, belonging, nationality, religion, culture and the dreams handed to you.

At the point we have reached after all those centuries, with all that thinking and believing, is the result beautiful? And are the whales happier, or are we?

But we cannot be like them, like animals, can we?

I think a whale's only difference from us is that it knows it is a whale. Not that it is an animal, but that it is a whale.

We should change our point of view, I suspect. Perhaps we should focus not on being human or on humanity, but on ourselves.

A whale never chats with an octopus, never mates with one, never eats with one. Even though they share the same waters, even though both are animals, they do not do it.

The insistence that we love people simply because they are people seems absurd to me. It is a thought that soils living without noticing, in order to exalt love.

You cannot love everyone, and you should not. It is not right. You do not need reasons to love people because your creator is the same.

My advice is to watch nature, friends. If you are looking for happiness, look not to entrepreneurs, philosophers, doctors or gurus, but to nature.

Animals are very happy creatures. If you understand why and adapt it to your life, you will be happy too.

Look, I am not asking for something impossible that others manage. It is very simple. Like a whale.

Just be aware of what you are and live accordingly. Believe me, that is enough.

That is why I too am simply Ediz.

Be well.
